Cowessess Driver Services first project was a civil road building contract for Enbridge which began in the fall of 2018 and was delivered over three construction seasons in stages with the completion of Line 3.  The scope of work required Cowessess Driver to build all the secondary access roads from municipal roads to the valve stems along the pipeline path. This included a total of eight individuals roads along the mainline from Belle Plaine, SK to the Manitoba Border. The work started in November 2018 with three Cowessess citizens employed as Heavy Equipment Operators. In spring 2019, the crew remobilized to complete additional sites. The final sites could not be completed until the mainline contractor’s work was complete, therefore Cowessess Driver remobilize in August 2020 to complete the final scope. Enbridge was pleased with the quality of work, utilization of Indigenous employees and has provided a standing letter of reference for Cowessess Driver Services.
